Filming has commenced on “John Rambo,” a prequel delving into the early years of the iconic action hero, set before the events of the 1982 film “First Blood.” This new installment is capturing scenes across various locations in Thailand, including Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi, utilizing both urban and challenging terrains to vividly portray the character’s origin story.
Noah Centineo has been cast to play the young John Rambo, a role originally immortalized by Sylvester Stallone. Under the direction of Jalmari Helander, known for the action thriller “Sisu,” the film’s screenplay has been crafted by writers Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The prequel seeks to explore the pivotal experiences that molded Rambo into a legendary figure in action cinema. Although specific plot details are scarce, the narrative is anticipated to examine the character’s formative years and the significant events that shaped his future.
The production team is comprised of experienced filmmakers and producers, with Stallone himself taking on the role of executive producer. Additionally, the film is a collaborative effort involving multiple major production companies. With five films already in its repertoire, the Rambo franchise has proven to be one of Hollywood’s most enduring and lucrative action series, grossing over $800 million worldwide. This latest project marks the first significant endeavor to revisit Rambo’s beginning and introduce a younger version of the famed soldier to a contemporary audience.
Scheduled for release in 2027, “John Rambo” represents a new chapter in the franchise, aiming to captivate both long-time fans and new viewers by shedding light on the early life of one of cinema’s most enduring action heroes. The production’s approach, blending diverse landscapes with a focus on character development, promises to offer a fresh perspective on the iconic figure while maintaining the essence that has captivated audiences for decades.
