China and Switzerland have successfully concluded negotiations to enhance their existing free trade agreement, signifying a significant step toward strengthened economic collaboration between the two nations amid growing global trade uncertainties. The completion of the negotiations was announced by Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Swiss President Guy Parmelin during a meeting in Bern, where they also signed a memorandum of understanding. This achievement follows five rounds of talks that began in September 2024.
The upgraded free trade agreement is set to facilitate increased market access between China and Switzerland, focusing on areas such as trade in goods and services, investment, and trade regulations.
