Taiwan’s Chen Guan-ling Secures Two Silvers, One Bronze at Weightlifting Championships

Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling secured two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China. The 21-year-old athlete demonstrated a commendable performance, particularly in the clean and jerk event, where she successfully lifted 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg. Her final lift of 125kg earned her a silver medal in the clean and jerk discipline.

Chen’s combined total of 215kg at the event also secured her another silver medal, while she claimed a bronze in the snatch category. This achievement marks an improvement over her previous performance at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she won one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier this year, Chen had also won a bronze medal in the same weight category at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The World Weightlifting Championships, which continue until November 8, are significant as they contribute qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is noteworthy that the women’s 57kg category is not included in the Olympic weightlifting programme, which comprises six different weight classes.
