Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ting Secures Another Asian Games Boxing Gold in 60kg Category

Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting achieved a significant milestone by securing her second consecutive Asian Games boxing gold medal. Lin triumphed over China’s Yang Chengyu with a decisive 5-0 victory in the women’s 60kg final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

This victory is particularly notable as it marks Lin’s first major international win since moving up to the 60kg weight class, following her gold medal victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Previously, she had won the women’s 57kg gold at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.

Throughout the tournament, Lin faced tough competition, notably overcoming Kazakhstan’s Viktoriya Grafeyeva in the opening round. This was a significant achievement for Lin, as she had previously lost to Grafeyeva in the World Boxing Cup final earlier this year.

Lin expressed that this Asian Games victory held special meaning due to the challenges she had encountered throughout her career. Despite considering retirement after her Olympic success, Lin chose to continue competing, a decision that has led to her latest triumph.

While Lin has yet to announce whether she will defend her Olympic title at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, her recent accomplishments underscore her status as a formidable force in international boxing.
